The Raytheon team is looking for a Software Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software (SW) Department. The MDS SW mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control (C2) Software for our customers' wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. We align to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream, delivering high-frequency, high-quality deployments to our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms. As a member of our team, you will design, develop, test, and release software products for one of our Radar or C2 programs. Some of the programs our department supports include NASAMS and the Air Defense Operations Center (ADOC). The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software design and development, an eagerness to learn, the ability to work 100% onsite and collaboratively with a team, and an interest in complex, real-time, safety-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work on an agile team responsible for developing and delivering software for one of the MDS Department's programs.
  • Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real-time application software and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.
  • Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems.
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations.
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related (STEM) discipline.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience developing software with C, C++, Java, or Ada.
  • The ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins), configuration management tools (Git, Bitbucket, Artifactory), and data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python).
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, memory management, and multithreaded applications.
  • Well-developed communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
  • Ability to promote a culture of continuous learning, cross-team collaboration and training.
