About the position

Raytheon is hiring a Software Development Engineer to support our teams in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. You will work within the Air & Missile Defense Software Department in Tewksbury, Massachusetts as part of the Patriot Software Development Team. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern languages and computing platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and tools.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience or Education with software development.
  • The ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with C++, C, Java or similar higher level programming language.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
  • Experience in a Unix/Linux operating system.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevOps and test automation.
