About the position

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada's Immigration Legal Services (ILS) provides low-cost, or pro bono, direct representation in immigration matters to individuals throughout northern Nevada, along with outreach and education on immigration updates, rights under U.S. law, and fraud prevention. By assisting immigrants in obtaining legal status and work authorization, ILS helps reduce poverty and enhance economic stability. The ILS is seeking a Family Strengthening Immigration Marketing & Outreach Coordinator VISTA to continue capacity-building outreach to strengthen, expand, and increase families' knowledge of the ILS. Many law-abiding immigrants, who are entitled to legal status, do not pursue documentation because they are afraid of exploitation. The ILS also assists with family reunification through its family-based legal assistance, helping clients achieve their American Dream by becoming naturalized U.S. citizens. The VISTA will work with ILS to develop marketing materials to distribute to ILS stakeholders and engage and inform the community of updates in immigration policies. They will develop an interactive training and on-boarding plans for volunteers, attend stakeholder meetings, and they will learn about case management and work with the team to improve and streamline internal case processing. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA's Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty.
