Responsibilities

• Research and/or test latest design, analysis and optimization software in the industry, especially Open Source.
• Research, develop, integrate and validate MDAO-hardened analysis methods and software applications for conventional and non-conventional aircraft.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• 5 + years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
• Knowledge of aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, mass properties, stability & control, kinematics, aircraft performance.
• Computer programming expertise.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using OpenMDAO.
• Experience using Engineering Sketch Pad.
• Ability to perform fixed-wing aircraft sizing methodology.
• Knowledge and experience performing gradient-based optimization.
• Strong Work Ethic. Positive attitude. Optimistic. Pragmatic.
• Knowledge regarding 14 CFR Part 23, 25, etc.
• Design-Build-Test experience of aircraft.
• Experience with Open Source software associated with aircraft analysis.
• Wind tunnel and data collection method knowledge.
• Knowledge and experience with control theory along with implementation.
• Knowledge of Boeing’s various engineering database management.
• 14 + years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
