About the position

At GE Aerospace Technology & Operations, our customers challenge us with some of the world’s most complex engineering problems. Meeting these challenges requires engineers and software developers who can bridge data, tools, and advanced technologies, such as cloud computing and AI, to unlock new possibilities and shape the future of flight. As a member of our team, you’ll apply strong foundations in physics, mathematics, and statistics to design and develop computational methods for aerospace engineering. You’ll work across cloud platforms, databases, high-performance computing, and AI technologies, while applying algorithms, optimization, and numerical modeling to solve real-world design problems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, contribute to the development of new geometries, and help push the design frontier in aerospace.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experts across aerodynamics, mechanical systems, heat transfer, testing, certification, casting, and machining.
  • Analyze and design components, including specifications, aero-shape, aero-mechanics, pressure, durability, and manufacturing trade-offs.
  • Translate complex design processes into software architecture and modular classes.
  • Co-develop computational algorithms for turbine airfoils and other aerospace geometries with subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Iterate with SMEs to reproduce, validate, and enhance best-known engineering methods in code.
  • Collect and incorporate customer feedback on usability, feasibility, and accuracy.
  • Containerize solutions in AWS and manage experiment versions with MLFlow.
  • Establish and maintain modern development environments (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AWS, HPC clusters).
  • Document workflows, specifications, and software practices in GitHub.
  • Train and support aerospace engineers in adopting new computational tools and methods.
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance.
  • Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using language of choice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or 'STEM' Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in developing AI solutions, computational algorithms, or architecting distributed data systems.
  • Strong academic performance in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other STEM disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Python, C, C++, C#, and Fortran with strong debugging and numerical programming skills.
  • Solid background in applied mathematics, physics, and statistics, with ability to model and analyze complex systems.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Knowledge Graphs, Computer Vision, Computational Engineering, Numerical Methods, or Optimization.
  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure); certification preferred but not required.
  • Customer-centric mindset, with the ability to facilitate design thinking workshops.
  • Strong curiosity, problem-solving drive, and readiness to learn and innovate.
