About the position

The Information Systems Application Development Supervisor collaborates closely with and reports to the Division Managers of Information Systems to lead the application development initiatives. This position is responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to the development and maintenance of business application software systems. Key responsibilities include project management, systems analysis and design, as well as the recruitment, management, and development of a skilled team of analysts and programmers. Additionally, the Supervisor plays a key role in planning, consulting, and providing advisory services to ensure system development aligns with the business requirements of other departments. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, maintain team focus under pressure, and deliver exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate staff to encourage teamwork and goal achievement, while supporting career development to maximize their contributions to the team and organization.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled team of system development and programming specialists.
  • Assess employee performance through regular reviews and prepare performance evaluations. Participate in personnel decisions, including hiring, terminations, and promotions.
  • Oversee and, when necessary, participate in the training, performance evaluations, and professional development of staff. Recommend salary adjustments and take appropriate disciplinary or corrective actions when needed.
  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to define project scope and requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including strategy, staffing, scheduling, risk identification, contingency plans, and resource management for corporate initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing support for production systems to ensure smooth daily operations of the company.
  • Deliver timely, detailed reports on the status of projects and ongoing work.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and department policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Executive and Division Managers of Information Systems.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree, business school or comparable work experience.
  • Knowledge of insurance and NCFB systems and interfaces with other systems preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and project management experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps is preferred.
