About the position

The Assistant Director of Marketing conceptualizes, drafts, and implements comprehensive marketing, sales and engagement plans that result in increased ticket sales, revenue growth and fan affinity for UTEP Athletics. This position is responsible for game day scripting and execution of soccer, men's basketball, and softball athletics events, in collaboration with the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing & Digital Strategy and Van Wagner, UTEP Athletics' exclusive multimedia rights partner and sales agent. The role includes creating a fun and exciting game day experience for fans, including improved audio and visuals, concourse activities, halftime entertainment, spirit coordination, music, contests, pre-game entertainment, and overall presentation. The Assistant Director will also collaborate with other External Relations units on strategic plans to promote UTEP Athletics events, teams, and student-athletes through various social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for game day scripting and execution of soccer, men's basketball, and softball athletics events.
  • Create a fun and exciting game day experience for fans.
  • Collaborate with other External Relations units on strategic plans to promote UTEP Athletics events.
  • Develop print materials to promote UTEP Athletics events.
  • Manage trade contracts with media partners.
  • Collaborate with campus groups to increase student interest and attendance at UTEP Athletics events.
  • Execute promotional activities with UTEP coaches and student-athletes.
  • Work closely with the Miner Athletic Club and Taymar to develop aggressive season ticket and group sales promotional plans.
  • Coordinate internal marketing efforts on UTEP Athletics' official website.
  • Act as a liaison between the Athletics department and internal or external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years minimum experience working in collegiate athletics or professional sports.
  • Direct experience in marketing for a Division I Athletic Department.
  • Working knowledge of the NCAA rules, guidelines, and principles.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software.

Benefits

  • Salary: $35,568
  • Standard Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm hours with flexibility required on evenings and weekends.
