As the Assistant Manager you will assist the store manager by overseeing front of store operations and closing the store evenings and Saturdays, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
Responsibilities
Close the cash drawers at the end of each shift, count money, verify sales match register tape, complete necessary paperwork, and make nightly deposit.
Monitor the cashiers, staff and volunteers assigned to the store.
Ensure the store is neat and clean. Oversee and assist production to make sure shelves are fully stocked, items are accurately priced, and coordinate pricing with store manager.
Schedule donation pick-ups and prepare schedule of pickups for driver.
Learn all policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
Other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Past retail experience a plus but not required. Cash handling experience preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
Able to positively interact with the public, customers, and donors.
