About the position

The position involves ensuring compliance with ordnance management policies and programs, military weapon systems, and logistics. The role includes managing and supervising the storage, handling, inspection, assembly, and testing maintenance of aviation munitions and armament handling/test equipment. The individual will establish work schedules, modification requests, and maintenance logs while adhering to current directives. The position requires strong leadership skills, critical and analytical thinking, and effective communication abilities. The candidate will also handle administrative duties, guide and mentor subordinates, and work collaboratively with other personnel to resolve issues. Responsibilities include overseeing mission configuration, ensuring aircraft loads are properly managed according to NATOPS manuals, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment. The role also involves training lower-level employees, evaluating the aviation ordnance function, and directing the Explosive Safety program. The candidate will supervise the requisitioning and usage of aviation munitions, develop operating procedures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with ordnance management policies and programs.
  • Manages and supervises storage, handling, inspection, assembly, and testing maintenance.
  • Establishes work schedules, modification requests, and maintenance logs.

  • Instructs and assists in training lower-level employees.
  • Performs related duties as assigned, including duties of lower-rated personnel.
  • Assists other shops/skills as required.
  • Reassigns contract personnel as needed to support flight schedules.
  • Directs and supervises personnel engaged in aviation munitions handling.
  • Supervises assembly, loading, and arming/de-arming of aviation munitions.
  • Evaluates aviation ordnance function for efficiency and implements changes.
  • Advises Site Project Manager on technical matters regarding aviation ordnance.
  • Directs the Explosive Safety program and supervises training of personnel.
  • Administers the Explosive Handling Personnel Qualification and Certification Program.
  • Develops aviation ordnance standing operating procedures and submits reports.
  • Schedules personnel efficiently to meet work requirements.
  • Conducts shift meetings and participates in management meetings.
  • Documents on-the-job training for ordnance personnel.
  • Takes corrective action as necessary and ensures compliance with company policy.
  • Ensures ordnance personnel act as a cohesive work center.
  • Ensures cross-training of ordnance technicians on all T/M/S.
  • Ensures validation/verification procedures are followed for new ordnance.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of Flight Clearances, NATOPS manuals, and associated checklists.
  • Working knowledge of F/A-18 (Series), AV-8B, and MH-60 aircraft.
  • Experience supervising daily flight operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Experience with uploading/downloading evolutions and maintenance support.
  • Knowledge of technical directives and CNAFINST2 Series.
  • Understanding of basic supply procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Capable of writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Possess or qualify for a U.S. state driver's license.
  • Must maintain an active U.S. Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • BA/BS in engineering, business, logistics, management, math, sciences, or professional aeronautics with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • AA/AS with 6+ years of relevant experience or high school graduate with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive background in Aviation Ordnance with a minimum of 20 years of experience, including 10 years in a supervisory position.
  • Experience in Navy/Marine Corps ordnance supervisory roles.
