About the position

As a Behavior Specialist at CSD, you’ll play a key role in supporting children with autism. Using strategies backed by science (called Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA), you’ll help kids build important life skills—like communication, social interaction, and daily routines—in their classroom. You’ll follow a personalized plan created by our clinical team and bring energy, compassion, and structure to each session. Whether you're playing games, guiding through tasks, or celebrating a small win, your support helps children grow in big ways. This is a flexible, on-the-go role perfect for someone who’s passionate about making a difference and thrives in dynamic environments. Training is provided, and you'll always have support from our experienced clinical leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the instructions of the BCBA/program supervisor/teacher
  • Provides behavior assistance/interventions to assigned clients
  • Performs ABA related teaching strategies
  • Provides behavior support services
  • Provides crisis intervention
  • Review and Implement behavior intervention plans
  • Review and implement behavioral goals found within IEPs
  • Documents session per policies and procedures
  • Collects data accurately and efficiently
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements
  • Assist students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene
  • Implement behavior management techniques in accordance with the directions given by the supervising teacher
  • Reinforce appropriate behaviors in accordance with the teachers plan and supervise the student during these behavior management techniques
  • Additional job duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months' experience working with special needs in a school or related setting preferred
  • Current CPR certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population
  • Able to travel to and work in multiple program service areas; reliable transportation needed
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; bilingual ability preferred
  • Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills
