In this role, you will assist Bindery Operators by setting up and maintaining major or complex binding equipment, including ink jet and mailing devices, power folders and power collators, power cutters, speed binder, and in-line cover-inserter with four-knife trimmer. You will interpret job orders for this equipment, plan necessary operations, and set up and adjust equipment. Monitoring equipment during operations to ensure tolerances are being maintained and making adjustments as necessary will be key responsibilities. Additionally, you will perform daily maintenance duties such as cleaning machinery to remove paper dust and lint, checking pumps and other operating parts for proper lubrication, and lubricating equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Bindery Operators by setting up and maintaining major or complex binding equipment.
  • Interpret job orders for binding equipment and plan necessary operations.
  • Set up and adjust equipment as needed.
  • Monitor equipment during operations to ensure tolerances are maintained.
  • Make necessary adjustments to equipment during operations.
  • Perform daily maintenance duties such as cleaning machinery and checking lubrication.

Requirements

  • Ability to assist in the set-up of complicated binding machinery under the direction of the operator.
  • Ability to make machine adjustments for differences in paper size or thickness, hole or margin distances, and other work requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and fractions.
  • Skill in using hand tools such as rulers, screwdrivers, and wrenches to make machine adjustments.
  • Ability to set up, arrange, and hand collate various sizes of paper neatly.
  • General knowledge to set up and maintain a variety of single function, hand and foot automated bindery machines.
