About the position

The biospecimen clinical research coordinator is a unique role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of biology protocols in addition to providing critical integrative clinical support to physicians and other clinical providers. Primary responsibilities will include enrolling subjects on biology protocols, collection and shipment of both standard care biological samples, research samples, and submission of data as part of these studies. Other primary responsibilities will include providing in-person, bedside support during bone marrow procedures in the hematology/oncology clinic, operating room, interventional radiology and other areas within the hospital (i.e., ICU, imaging facilities, etc.). The successful candidate will be expected to gain a deep understanding of specific samples that need to be collected as part of clinical diagnoses, treatment approach and research. The successful candidate's expertise will include knowledge of biological sample collection (bone marrow, cerebrospinal fluid, blood, saliva, etc.). Requirements for shipment to specific diagnostic facilities, coordination for send-out and in-house orders, completion of required documentation, and more. Collaboration with many stakeholders is vital to the role, and clear and effective verbal and written communication is a key skill the successful candidate will possess.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • At least 1-year related experience required
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree preferred
  • CCRP/CCRC certification through SoCRA / ACRP preferred
  • Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license preferred
  • RRT registration through NBRC and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required
  • RRT-NPS through NBRC and PALS certification required within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Registered Nurse license preferred
