About the position

BAI, a defense contractor, is seeking a Cloud-Native Software Engineer with 3+ years of experience for our expanding workforce supporting current and evolving Naval Data Distribution System (NDDS), at Naval Air Station PT Mugu, Camarillo California. Responsibilities

  • Engineer and own robust, scalable .NET Core microservices, shaping the backbone of our next-generation platform.
  • Assist in deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/Amazon ECS/Fargate.
  • Integrate NDDS microservices with a diverse ecosystem of enterprise (OpenShift, Kubernetes) and AWS cloud services, including MongoDB, Splunk, RabbitMQ, and Keycloak.
  • Help to build and optimize our CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, enabling rapid, reliable, and automated delivery of new features and capabilities.
  • Work within an agile, cross-functional team to bring new features from concept to reality.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging cloud technologies, ensuring the platform remains at the vanguard of technology.

Requirements

  • 3-10 years of professional development experience with a demonstrable focus on building scalable, cloud-native applications.
  • Experience building and deploying sophisticated microservices architectures using C# within the modern .NET ecosystem (including .NET Core & ASP.NET).
  • Understanding of containerization with Docker and knowledge of at least one major orchestration platform (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Understanding across the entire stack, including building modern front-end experiences (e.g., Angular) and designing robust RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with both relational (MSSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • A history of thriving in fast-paced, collaborative Agile environments and delivering value iteratively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Git and experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab experience is a plus).
  • Experience with the AWS ecosystem, particularly services like ECS, Fargate, S3.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Expertise in using Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor) in the software development process.
  • Awareness of modern identity protocols like OpenID Connect and OAuth2.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
