About the position

The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive external communications strategy for AIEA, the Association of International Education Administrators, a 700+ member organization for international education leadership. The Communications and Marketing role is a dynamic, creative position that will drive community engagement, support membership goals, generate organizational visibility, and share a clear, compelling message about AIEA to the world. The role spans a broad range of areas including social media strategy, website development and maintenance, branding, design, and marketing functions. This is a full-time position reporting to the CEO. Location: Washington, DC Area (while this position is based in the DC area due to the need for AIEA presence at occasional in-person events and gatherings, AIEA is currently a fully remote organization). Travel: Less than 10%. Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a comprehensive external communications and engagement strategy that unifies and drives AIEA's media and social media activity, publications, events, speaking opportunities, and other thought leadership activities.
  • Develop content for and project manage regular newsletters, announcements, press releases, and other external communications.
  • Remain up to date on the latest external communications, digital media, and marketing/outreach technologies and trends to see where these may be utilized to advance AIEA's external communications footprint.
  • Manage digital media operations, including the design and maintenance of the website, digital collateral (e.g. online papers, external presentations), photography, and the annual conference App.
  • Use analytics tools to measure the success of digital campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy to drive growth and engagement for members, conference and event attendees, sponsors, and other AIEA program participants.
  • Ensure a strong 'brand' by overseeing a strong comprehensive brand identity system across all collateral (printed, online and in the public realm).
  • Ensure brand visibility and consistency.
  • Serve as marketing and advertising liaison with partners and sponsors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and attitude.
  • High level of professionalism and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of quality in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple, time-sensitive projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Global perspective and ability to see the big picture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign), email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp), analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) and website interfaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest and experience in international education preferred.
