About the position

The Coordinator, Marketing is responsible for gathering and providing information to the public on specific and assigned men's and women's intercollegiate athletics programs, and assists with public relations activities within intercollegiate athletics, and serves as a liaison between intercollegiate athletics and the media. The Incumbent will develop and maintain an effective presence with web and new media associated with the UAH Athletics department. The Incumbent will assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications in the management of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications in the management of the internal administrative functions and daily operations of the Athletics Communications Office monitoring the completion of assigned activity responsibilities and evaluating progress toward achievement of established goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that information about the University's intercollegiate athletics programs is available to the public in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and execution of a comprehensive program of sports coverage which focuses on both competitive and non-competitive activities and includes information on student-athletes and teams in the University's intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Ensures that major special events for student-athletes, major conference and national event participation by University teams, and other special events reflect positively on the University.
  • Responsible for handling or managing computer statistics for UAH sporting events.
  • Oversee statistics and records for all UAH varsity sports.
  • Assists in the development and distribution of various publications for men's and women's sports programs.
  • Oversee the setup and teardown of equipment for sports events.
  • Serve as a game manager for home athletic events.
  • Supervises, assigns, and directs the work of students, volunteers, and contract personnel.
  • Complete postgame reports and distribute to appropriate personnel, including opponents and media.
  • Abides by and complies with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Conference rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the University.
  • Keep abreast of trends, maintains knowledge, competency, and professional currency through self-directed professional reading.
  • Prepare Conference reports for GSC and PBC, as well as NCAA, AVCA, NFCA, IWLCA, ABCA, WBCA and USILA.
  • Organize and maintain files for record keeping.
  • Respond to email and mail requests for information.
  • Coordinate game staff, stat crews, announcers, and music.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a related field and or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
  • 1-3 years of verifiable work experience in a collegiate or professional athletic communications, media relations or public relations department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in athletic administration is desired.
  • Experience managing websites.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
