About the position
The Deli Clerk position involves various essential job functions including operating slicing and wrapping machines, stocking merchandise, pricing items, and maintaining cleanliness in the deli-bakery department. The role requires adherence to safety policies and procedures while performing tasks such as wrapping and packaging products, cleaning equipment, and producing bakery/deli items. The position demands physical stamina, including standing for extended periods and lifting items up to 50 pounds, with the possibility of lifting heavier items.
Responsibilities
- Operate slicing machine, wrapping machine, and knives safely.
- Work a 40-hour week, available between 6am and 9pm.
- Rotate, stock, and straighten merchandise and supplies.
- Price all merchandise according to departmental guidelines.
- Follow proper wrapping and packaging procedures.
- Perform basic housekeeping duties using available equipment.
- Clean all required deli-bakery department tools and equipment.
- Follow proper procedures for producing bakery/deli products.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area.
- Perform all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy.
- Receive and unload truck deliveries according to established guidelines.
- Order products in the absence of the deli manager.
- Decorate cakes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be the appropriate age to operate slicing and wrapping machines.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in temperature extremes, including frozen foods and storage coolers.
- Follows dress code and safety policies.
- Ability to work well with others.
