About the position
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is recruiting for Dental Assistants who provide technical assistance to dental professionals in the treatment of patients; maintain records, supplies, and equipment; and perform other dental clinic clerical duties in a correctional facility setting. Dental Assistants perform the following duties: Assist the dentist at chair side; take and develop dental x-rays for diagnostic purposes; instruct patients in proper practices of dental hygiene and prophylaxis; sterilize, care for and arrange dental instruments, equipment, and accessories; make appointments for patients; update and maintain dental records. Incumbents will be required to travel and work in all four jail facilities which are located in Adelanto, Devore, Rancho Cucamonga, and San Bernardino.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist at chair side
- Take and develop dental x-rays for diagnostic purposes
- Instruct patients in proper practices of dental hygiene and prophylaxis
- Sterilize, care for and arrange dental instruments, equipment, and accessories
- Make appointments for patients
- Update and maintain dental records
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Dental Assistant by the State of California Board of Dental Examiners
- Must have a Coronal Polish certification
- Must have a current Basic Life Support certification
- One (1) year of experience performing clinical dental assistant duties
