About the position

As a Development Engineering Software Engineer, you'll provide Software Engineering expertise to the capability to test products at system, sub system, module and component level, collecting and validating data to support the verification of product designs. You will lead and support the Software and Data Systems groups to enable the delivery of new test capability to Rolls-Royce to maintain reliable test equipment that Rolls-Royce depends on to conduct certification and development testing. This will include the implementation of and upkeep of commercial software tools that enable gathering and documentation of test requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a complex software tools in an environment that will provide challenges with clear deadlines and unclear paths of how to get to the expected result.

Responsibilities

  • Interface between external and internal customers, to elicit and validate all stakeholder requirements including business, technical customers and partners.
  • Applying technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Learn new software tools and develop presentation materials to facilitate training of team members in use of these programs.
  • Provide guidance from the software engineering perspective to the implementation of new software tools.
  • Develop and Deploy new capability through close co-operation with the deployed test Engineering teams and Programme Engineering leadership.
  • Lead integration activities between project teams and test to ensure instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, test limits, and test data recording are completed.
  • Support on-site and off-site development engine/sub-system build and test activities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 4+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering OR;
  • A Master's degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering OR;
  • A JD/PhD with 0+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of experience in software and development engineering.
  • Gas turbine engine test, installation, verification, and performance experience.
  • Experience in programming C or C++.
  • Experience in configuring and deploying Dynamic Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Gas turbine related work experience with emphasis on engine dynamics and vibration.
  • Experience managing and interpreting requirements, and developing user acceptance test plans for software tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
