About the position

The Digital Marketing Specialist will leverage digital marketing and communications platforms to drive Museum attendance, deepen engagement with Museum guests, and generate leads across key audience segments. This role works across departments to establish goals, manage digital content production, and analyze performance. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for digital best practices by developing strategic, high-performing digital content that meets the goals of the Museum's initiatives. This is a hybrid position that requires flexible hours for occasional weekend, evening, and holiday events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic plans to generate leads through web and email communications, adjusting the marketing strategy based on data, research, and user behavior.
  • Analyze and deliver reports on high-performing web and email content that most engages the Museum's various audiences of guests, members and donors including campaign-specific lead capture performance.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) to create high-converting and measurable digital content for Museum teams.
  • Work with Museum departments to create and produce email campaigns and automations for guests, members, and donors that meet defined performance goals.
  • Manage and optimize guest journeys through Salesforce, leveraging automation tools to enhance acquisition, retention, and conversion rates.
  • Research and maintain best practices in email deliverability, design, A/B testing and effectiveness.
  • Own the Museum email communication schedule, ensuring timely and strategically aligned deployment of campaigns.
  • Work with Museum teams to plan, edit, build, and update website content.
  • Optimize the website content, metadata, and organization for greatest accessibility, SEO performance, and search traffic acquisition.
  • Research and maintain best practices in tagging digital assets and metadata.
  • Maintain and build web forms and landing pages designed for campaign tracking and lead capture.
  • Conceptualize and produce compelling digital content including landing pages, blog posts, email copy, and social ads aligned with campaign objectives and audience intent.
  • Collaborate with design, programming, and associated teams to ensure a consistent and dynamic digital experience across all touchpoints.
  • Analyze email and website activity to identify guest intents, interests, and conversion performance.
  • Research and maintain best practices that improve the Museum's presence in search results and convert digital activity into measurable attendance and leads.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports on campaign performance, KPIs and ROI, offering actionable insights to improve future outcomes.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and continually optimize digital campaigns through test-and-learn approaches.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in digital marketing.
  • Direct experience creating content for CMS-managed websites, building inbox-friendly HTML email campaigns, and reading and interpreting analytics reports.
  • Proven expertise in website accessibility, SEO/SEM and digital content strategy.
  • Basic proficiency in Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite programs preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar CRM and automation platforms preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Ads, and keyword research tools.
  • Strong writing and copyediting abilities.
  • Demonstrated skills designing and developing responsive microsites and landing pages.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering results.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving instincts.
  • Able to manage and prioritize many tasks simultaneously.
