About the position

The Director, Global Policy - Asia (China & Region) will play a critical leadership role in shaping and advancing onsemi's policy strategy across key markets in Asia, with a primary focus on China. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in trade, technology, investment, and semiconductor-related public policy, and a proven track record of engagement with government officials, industry associations, and multilateral stakeholders in the region. This position requires a strategic thinker and experienced policy professional who can effectively navigate complex geopolitical environments, anticipate policy trends, and advocate for onsemi's business and technology interests.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute onsemi's government affairs and public policy strategy across China and other priority Asian markets.
  • Serve as the company's principal policy expert and representative in the region, building trusted relationships with government agencies, regulators, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on relevant policy developments related to trade, investment, export controls, R&D, supply chain security, and ESG regulations.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior executives and business units on the implications of regional policy and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, supply chain, R&D, and communications teams to ensure alignment between policy strategy and business priorities.
  • Support onsemi's participation in key industry associations and global policy forums; represent the company in advocacy coalitions and working groups.
  • Manage external consultants, legal advisors, and in-country policy partners as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in international affairs, public policy, law, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or international relations with a focus on China and/or Asia, ideally within the technology or semiconductor sector.
  • Deep understanding of regional political dynamics, regulatory trends, and global policy issues affecting the semiconductor industry.
  • Proven ability to influence policy outcomes and build coalitions in complex geopolitical environments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global corporate environment.
  • Fluency in English required; Mandarin or other regional language skills a strong plus.
