About the position

The Director of Marketing Technology and Data at CNN is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and implementing marketing technology solutions and data analytics infrastructure to support the Product and Growth teams. This position plays a crucial role in driving the success of CNN's subscription business by ensuring that the technology stack and data capabilities align with business objectives. The director will oversee marketing technology platforms, data pipelines, and analytics tools, collaborating with various teams to optimize performance and enhance customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the marketing technology strategy and technology stack, including CRM and marketing automation tools.
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and management of marketing technology and messaging partners.
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing, Digital Products & Services, and other teams to align stakeholder needs with marketing technology capabilities.
  • Champion the use of data and analytics to optimize marketing performance and develop actionable insights.
  • Maintain a robust data infrastructure for seamless collection and analysis of customer data, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement in marketing processes.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team committed to innovation and collaboration.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing technology, data analytics, or marketing operations, particularly in digital products or subscription services.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing technology platforms and customer data platforms (CDPs).
  • Strong background in data analytics, data warehousing, and business intelligence.
  • Understanding of digital marketing channels and paid media optimization strategies.
  • Familiarity with data management platforms, API integrations, and cloud technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage vendors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a matrixed environment with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of customer journey orchestration tools.
