About the position

As Director of Sales and Marketing for Fairmont Olympic Hotel, you will be responsible for the oversight of Sales, Marketing and Communication, Events and Revenue including Budget/P&L, expense and revenue forecasting, advertising, developing, and writing business plans, attracting, mentoring and retaining best in class talent and ownership relations. You will play a strategic role in maximization of the asset, both in orchestrating an integrated Commercial approach and creating a long-term positioning roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee integrated commercial strategies for the hotel.
  • Manage the asset by connecting strategy and business processes.
  • Lead the development and implementation of both short-term and long-term strategies in all sales, events, and marketing channels.
  • Create strong rapport with key stakeholders including hotel ownership and asset management.
  • Produce hotel's Annual Multi-Year Sales and Marketing Strategy Plan.
  • Connect performance needs for the hotel with solutions designed by the Fairmont brand enterprise.
  • Work with property Leadership to ensure pricing and rate quotation strategies are in place.
  • Maximize net revenue contribution through understanding of market segments and demand drivers.
  • Participate in total revenue management and evaluation of business opportunities.
  • Work with Brand E-Commerce teams and on property Commercial Leadership to build hotel marketing channels.
  • Track and analyze success of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies/budgets as needed.
  • Measure and report impact and ROI of email marketing and social media initiatives.
  • Work with Leadership to establish optimal business mix and review revenue forecasts.
  • Develop and execute departmental expense budget and forecasts.
  • Train and monitor group, transient and events contractual practices.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of competitor and market activity.
  • Responsible for the execution of the Fairmont Sales Incentive Program.
  • Responsible for recruiting, mentorship and retention of sales and marketing roles.
  • Lead, engage, and develop team members.
  • Liaise with Fairmont Global Sales, regional support and brand teams.
  • Build strong relationships with Visit Seattle and community groups.
  • Generate reports and analytics for designated Sales platforms and programs.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Participate in sites, FAM, and industry trade shows.
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors/partners.

Requirements

  • Must provide proof of eligibility to be employed in the United States.
  • Experience in luxury hotel as Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Hotel Sales, Catering or Marketing Experience in a 4 star plus property.
  • Management Experience as a Director.
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Ability to travel on short notice and adaptable to schedule changes.
  • Highly professional presentations and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform critical analysis.

  • Additional/advanced degree coursework in business administration, marketing and communications.
  • Adaptable experience with business strategy, business planning, and business plan development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering Software or comparable products.
