Driver Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, recruiting, and onboarding qualified truck drivers to meet the company staffed truck goals.
Responsibilities
Actively sources and manages drivers leads via inbound and outbound calls, texting, social media, internal database, rehires and driver referrals.
Recruits and screens truck driver applicants by reviewing short-forms, applications, conducting phone interviews and verifying qualifications (i.e. license, employment history, experience).
Communicates fleet options, income potential, and benefits of working with J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc.
Maintains knowledge of multiple division traffic lanes and driving positions.
Manages the driver hiring process from start to finish in a timely and organized manner.
Ensure all new drivers’ applications and reports (to include but not limited to MVR, CDLIS, PSP, VOE’s and PRE) are fully complete and accurate per company and DOT requirements.
Maintains knowledge of EEO, FCRA and DOT requirements.
Schedules and confirms orientation/certification start dates, arranges pre-employment screenings, executes employment offers and assists with travel questions.
Makes informed hiring decisions to ensure J&R Schugel hires qualified candidates.
Meets weekly metrics and monthly hiring goals.
Retains and engages driver leads to keep interest level for future driving positions and/or new markets.
Mindful of costs throughout the recruiting and on-boarding process.
Collaborate with peers, Operations, Safety Department and Human Resources team to understand driver qualifications.
Achieve or exceed company hiring goals to maintain seated truck count.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by Supervisor.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in business management or human resource management is a plus.
One or more years of sales, recruiting, or marketing experience is preferred.
Experience in the transportation industry strongly preferred.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
Internet recruiting experience.
Familiarity with AS400, Tenstreet (Applicant Tracking System) or DriverIQ strongly desired.
Ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm.
Able to read, write, and speak the English language fluently, bi-lingual in Spanish is beneficial.
Must be comfortable making outbound calls and possess a high sense of urgency.
Strong verbal and written communications skills to communicate with drivers over the phone, in-person, and in writing.
Positive customer service attitude.
Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to problem solve and effectively troubleshoot.
Negotiation skills.
Using discretion regarding sensitive information.
Prior experience in building and maintaining professional relationships.
Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively.
U.S. geography knowledge.
Familiar with or willing to become familiar with CSA and DOT regulations and rules as they pertain to the qualifications of driving a truck for the company.
Prior experience driving a commercial motor vehicle is beneficial.
