This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. Mission Technologies Division (HII-MT) is considering innovative candidates for a Software Engineer role. This individual will be responsible for the development of real-time software in support of hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) electronic warfare test systems. In addition to developing real-time software, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn DSP, modeling and simulation, and advanced radar techniques, among other skills. The growth potential of this position is only limited by the candidate’s desire and ability to learn new skills. Candidates should possess good people skills to be able to work with a highly technical team of engineers and scientists solving challenging technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
  • Prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensures software standards are met.

Requirements

  • 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of computer science.
  • Experience in C/C++ programming.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain up to a TS/SCI with enhanced security checks.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with micro controllers and embedded systems.
  • Experience with real-time software development.
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Digital Signal Processing experience.
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink.
  • Experience with Labview.
  • Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
