About the position

The Data Product Owner in the Greystar Enterprise Data Team assists the organization in achieving its data goals by realizing the value of our data and managing the product lifecycle. Your leadership spanning data and analytics technologies, relevant domain knowledge, and agile practices will play a vital role in the creation of solutions for customer and internal facing analytics/reporting systems. The Data Product Owner owns the product roadmap, prioritization efforts, stakeholder management and is responsible for ensuring that data products are released with the proper training, release documentation, and communications in place.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap and backlog.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business priorities and ensure the engineering team is focused on the highest value data initiatives.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders, customers, and internal teams.
  • Translate business needs into detailed product requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and user expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering & QA teams to drive delivery of data initiatives.
  • Manage stakeholder communication.
  • Write features and user stories in Azure DevOps.
  • Develop and deliver training and release documentation for products and enhancements.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, grooming, retro, etc.

Requirements

  • Superior verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand complex issues; plan, prioritize, and organize effectively.
  • Previous data product or product management experience.
  • Solid data analysis background (basic SQL & knowledge of working with APIs).
  • Excellent facilitation and conflict management skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate to cross functional leaders and senior executives internally and externally.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, managerial and project management skills.
  • Able to design, review, and optimize product plans, identify critical dependencies, sequencing and risks, and drive projects to success.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps a plus.
  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse & Databricks a plus.
