To install, repair and adjust component parts on experimental projects.
Responsibilities
Plans, lays out and performs the more standard mechanical operations required to develop assemblies, structures and components for experimental aircraft.
Completes aircraft modification and systems installation using Engineering drawings and work orders.
Troubleshoots, repairs and adjusts aircraft systems and power plant controls.
Services and prepares experimental airplane for takeoff and flight tests.
May be required to go into the field to 'troubleshoot' or service experimental or new model aircraft which are on tour.
Assists in planning and laying out of more complex mechanical operations.
Uses mechanic hand tools, testing devices, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scale, vernier calipers, height gauge, and indicator gauge.
May occasionally guide and instruct lower grade experimental mechanics.
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
Requires the use of ordinary drawings, shop math and some measuring devices.
A&P license required.
Requires a minimum 3 years of aircraft, engine and flight line maintenance or related experience including 2 years of experimental mechanic experience.
Preferred 5 years of experience as an A&P Mechanic.
