Ice Cream Shop Clerk (Part-Time)

About the position

The position involves providing excellent customer service by assisting customers with their inquiries and purchases while ensuring the store is well-maintained, clean, and organized. The role promotes a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all customers.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, and provide assistance with their shopping needs.
• Answer customer questions, provide product information, and offer suggestions or recommendations as needed.
• Process customer purchases, handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, and operate the cash register or point-of-sale system efficiently.
• Acquire an understanding of the products sold in the store and stay up-to-date with new arrivals, promotions, and special offers.
• Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally and escalate issues to the store manager if necessary.
• Stock, rotate, and organize shelves and displays; ensure that products are properly labeled and priced.
• Keep store looking clean and organized; perform daily assigned cleaning jobs.
• Help monitor inventory levels and notify supervisor when products need to be replenished or reordered.
• Assist in regular inventory counts.
• Be vigilant for shoplifting or fraudulent activities and report any suspicious behavior or incidents to the store security or management.
• Answer incoming calls.
• Complete shipping activities (e.g., UPS).
• Perform specific tasks in The Creamery, such as cutting cheese samples and bagging curd.
• Assist in loading and unloading customer vehicles and freight trucks in Alban’s, and fill propane tanks.
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 0 to 1 year of retail, customer service, or related experience.
• Certification and/or License may be required during course of employment.
