About the position

ENSCO's National Security Solutions (NSS) Division provides innovative research and development support to US Government agencies involved in national security. We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer, to assist in our continued growth in these areas. A primary focus area is the development of web-based applications for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threat detection. This position's duties include performing a variety of software design and implementation tasks including ingest and management of large data streams, modeling and simulation, data visualization, and web-based user interfaces. The candidate will provide software development and/or support to software integration and software maintenance and sustainment tasks, including development of technical documentation as required. For this position, the candidate will be given direction from an ENSCO Sr. Software Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of web-based applications for CBRNE threat detection.
  • Perform software design and implementation tasks.
  • Manage large data streams and perform data visualization.
  • Support software integration and maintenance tasks.
  • Develop technical documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or relevant field; or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of programming experience with Java, Python, or similar.
  • Minimum of 1 year using source code version control with Git.
  • Strong analytical and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience programming with a web full-stack (ex: Vue, Angular).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of AWS cloud programming (ex: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner).
  • Experience with relational/non-relational databases, using SQL.
  • Knowledge and experience in data science and/or predictive modeling applications.
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with databases, such as Oracle, MySQL, understand SQL.
  • Understands search engine integration engines such as Solr, Elastic.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong self-direction and initiative, as well as the ability to work within a team structure.
