About the position
This position is typically promoted from internal talent and must have previous dock experience. The Dock Lead position is responsible for all regular dock responsibilities and may coordinate and provide direction to other dock workers as it relates to work assignments only. Work the dock loading and unloading freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand. Strap, brace and pad freight to prevent damage or shifting. Check for mis-loads, hang manifest, call trailer moves. Close down trailers for O/B Dispatch. Responsible for O/B cut schedules. Assist with HUB freight. Assist with coordinating assignments on the dock. Regular attendance is required. Responsibilities

Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or equivalent experience
- Must be 17+ years of age
- Prior dock experience required
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred
- Stable employment history preferred
- Ability to operate a forklift (7500 lbs. vehicle) or previous forklift certification preferred
- Ability to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70lbs
- Must be computer literate (knowledge of AS/400 and MS Office a plus)
- Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work as a team in the coordination and direction of work assignments
- Must be able to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends
- Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more if required
- Must comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
