About the position

The University of Hawai'i Maui College is seeking a part-time Lecturer in Psychology. This position is temporary and will be funded through general funds. The lecturer will be responsible for teaching assigned courses in the discipline of Psychology, maintaining office hours, preparing course syllabi, grading, and reports related to teaching and student progress. The lecturer will work under the supervision of the discipline coordinator or division chairperson and may include instructional assignments involving distance education. The position requires in-person work and may involve evening, weekend, and off-campus classes.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for.
  • Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  • Prepare course syllabi, grading, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  • May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful community college and or university teaching experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of student's classroom learning activities.
  • Experience in teaching online or willingness to complete UHMC online training.
