About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all Extrusion and Thermoforming equipment and facility systems are maintained in optimal operating condition. This role requires working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance. The Maintenance Technician works independently or as part of a team, adhering to all company safety rules (including Lockout/Tagout) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities and consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain equipment, listening for unusual sounds and diagnosing malfunctions.
  • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other mechanical components.
  • Install, repair, and troubleshoot electrical apparatus (transformers, wiring, PLCs, servo motors, VFDs) and electronic components of machinery.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the facility.
  • Install, program, and maintain automated machinery and equipment.
  • Support production, quality, and other teams as needed.
  • Investigate equipment stoppages or shutdowns caused by safety risks or malfunctions; identify and resolve root causes.
  • Conduct risk assessments for mechanical and electrical systems, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to address machine performance issues.
  • Track countermeasures, document daily reports, propose resolutions, and implement fixes.
  • Request or purchase stock and non-stock parts and equipment with cost justifications.
  • Recommend preventive and predictive maintenance measures based on assessments.
  • Follow ISO 14001 procedures and comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition per AIB and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
  • Use of mechanical and electrical tools.
  • 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in plastic/foam extrusion or thermoforming.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with facility equipment, plant electrical distribution, vacuum systems, and electronic controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must read and write in English.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office; ERP system experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
