The Enterprise Data Products (EDP) organization is part of the American Express Technology Group. EDP manages the Big Data Ecosystem which helps to centralize data across the company with built-in governance and democratization of access to a broad user community. The team is driving the future of our business by building products and platforms that delivers trusted and quality data for decision science processes, big data applications and analytical users. We are looking for multiple Product Operational Managers across different work streams – Cornerstone, BI and Lumi. This role works closely with Business, Technology, and Infrastructure partners to address Initiatives across the enterprise, as well as adoption of training users onto Lumi. The Manager of FinOps and Cloud Performance Experience will lead the development and implementation of FinOps for the Next Generation Big Data platform, integrated with cloud utilization and performance strategies. This role will partner closely with the Cloud Engineering team to ensure alignment and effective use of cloud resources. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of cloud-based financial operations and drive business growth through efficient use of platform spend while maintaining a performant user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the optimization of native Google services such as Google Cloud Notebooks, Data Sharing, and Big Query to ensure efficient cloud resource management.
  • Monitor and analyze cloud performance trends to drive responsible and effective use of cloud resources, including cost optimization and resource allocation.
  • Design and implement scalable solutions to detect and recommend patterns that require code optimization, ensuring efficient use of cloud resources and improving overall system performance.
  • Assist in estimating infrastructure requirements of analytical use cases to cloud, ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption to business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in cloud computing or application development.
  • Minimum 2+ years of technical experience in Google Cloud and FinOps.
  • SQL Experience required.
  • GCP Certifications a plus.
  • FinOps practitioner or engineer certification required.
