Responsibilities

  • Leading client engagements focused on payer strategy, financial performance, and operational transformation.
  • Managing work streams across multiple projects, including work plans, schedules, and budgets, to ensure high-quality deliverables and timely execution.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses using payer data (e.g., claims, enrollment, pricing) to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Developing models and tools to assess reimbursement benchmarks, pricing competitiveness, and cost containment opportunities.
  • Facilitating client meetings, strategic planning sessions, and executive-level presentations.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and senior leaders to design and implement solutions that align with client goals.
  • Communicating project progress, synthesizing input, and ensuring accountability for project outcomes.
  • Managing client relationships and identifying opportunities for follow-on engagements.
  • Supporting new-business development through proposal drafting and participation in pitch discussions.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members, including performance feedback and knowledge sharing.
  • Contributing to internal practice development through methodology refinement and technical expertise.
  • Staying informed on market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging challenges affecting payers and risk-bearing providers.
  • Demonstrating commitment to professional growth and modeling work-life balance as a successful consulting leader.
  • Representing ECG in professional, alumni, and industry networks.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of and passion for the healthcare industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MHA, MPH, MBA, JD) strongly preferred.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in health plan consulting, health plan operations, or payer strategy.
  • Deep understanding of the healthcare payer landscape, including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, and/or commercial insurance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects or work streams with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in healthcare data analysis, including claims, pricing, enrollment, and/or cost/utilization datasets.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Experience developing client-ready deliverables (Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel models, and written reports and memos).
  • Comfortable interacting with senior-level client executives and facilitating strategic discussions.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within fast-paced, client-facing environments.
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
