About the position

The Marketing and Social Media Specialist at InterContinental Washington D.C. - The Wharf will support the Sales & Marketing Team under the guidance of the Director of Sales & Marketing. This role involves executing marketing efforts, managing the departmental budget, and enhancing the hotel's visibility and reputation in the local community. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including advertising agencies and local community groups, to ensure effective marketing strategies are implemented and brand standards are upheld.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the execution, tracking and managing of the checkbook associated with departmental budget and financial plans
  • Interact with outside contacts, guests, vendors and others as needed
  • Execute marketing efforts to upsell guests on hotel services, offerings and amenities
  • Work closely with key business leaders, officials and representatives of local community groups within the city, in conjunction with the DOSM to ensure constant high profile exposure for the hotel
  • Work with advertising agencies, consulting firms, public relations and vendors to maximize advertising investments and ensure ads represent brand identity
  • Approve monthly social media content and facilitate user generated content to enhance hotel awareness and engage the target audience
  • Raise the awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand locally-occasionally acting as hotel representative for media related inquiries
  • Identify improvements to marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with other departments to ensure brand and marketing standards are upheld
  • Assist DOSM to enact applicable portions of the Marketing Plan
  • Work with DOSM to execute special marketing projects/collateral, filming endeavors on property and PR events
  • Respond to reviews and create template for using the brand/hotel voice

Requirements

  • University or College Degree/Diploma preferably in Hospitality, Marketing or Business
  • Must possess exceptional people skills
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co-workers
  • Ability to provide legible written communication to a high standard
  • Computer Training (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
