About the position

The NA Marketing Agility team is charged with enabling marketing colleagues, North American, in leveraging the best practices of Agile methodology in delivering marketing campaigns and projects through the Marketing ABEDO process. The Marketing Scrum Master I is a specialized professional role which focuses on the improvement of the Agile team and drives the methodology, provides guidance on its application and associated processes, protects the team from outside distractions, conducts ceremony facilitation, removes impediments and is dedicated to the Agile team. The Scrum Master understands Agile and helps stakeholders work according to the method for the benefit of the team and the projects. To be successful in this role, the preference is to have someone that has experience working with marketers in the marketing department or supporting customer communications in a client facing role. There is an in-office expectation of 4 days per week to either NYC, Mt. Laurel, NJ or Wilmington, DE office and would need to be within a commutable distance from one of those marketing hubs.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end facilitation of the Agile processes
  • Drives continuous improvement and change, acting as a change agent to adapt processes to maximize productivity throughout the project lifecycle
  • Engages appropriate stakeholders to identify and manage impediments and required outcomes of projects for the business
  • Identifies Agile team improvement opportunities and looks externally for best practices in order to increase team productivity
  • Makes sure there is no hidden work, ensuring that everything the Agile Team is working on is acknowledged and accounted for in the Product Backlog, protecting the team from distractions
  • Owns enforcement of the Agile practices and ceremonies
  • Provides advice and guidance to the Agile project team, as required, regarding best practices in Agile project management
  • Manages 'Work In Progress Limits', making sure the team is not working on too many stories/tasks at once, and helps them get into a flow of starting and completing work in a predictable manner
  • Encourages the Team to look for opportunities to support each other
  • Ensures a collaborative culture exists within the Team, promotes team building and ensures team engagement
  • Coordinates and facilitates ceremony logistics and ensures all Agile ceremonies/processes are held and all team members are present and on time

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or post graduate degree
  • Certified Scrum Master and 0+ years of Scrum Master experience
  • 5+ years Agile experience preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of agile theory, methodology, techniques, rules, and practices, estimating/sizing, planning, reporting, conflict resolution and facilitation
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives that support delivery execution for a single team
  • Ability to contribute to the direction of the function and provide advice to the team and delivery leadership
  • Ability to lead, plan, execute and evaluate project activities to ensure completion of initiatives
  • Skill in mentoring, and performance management
  • Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships on the team
  • Ability to successfully drive execution of a team
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Nice-to-haves

  • In lieu of a Scrum Master experience, TD will consider those with a Bachelor's Degree and an agile certification (ex: CSM, PSM or SAFe)
  • Both Agile and Marketing experience (can be in separate roles)
  • Marketing/Communication experience highly preferred
  • Customer facing experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year agile project experience involving cross-functional and cross-business teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams; foster a positive and cohesive teamwork environment; and interact with all levels of stakeholders from various functional areas
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience with JIRA / Confluence preferred
  • Change Management skills preferred
  • Change Management coursework or certification preferred (e.g. ProSci)
