Mascot Actors and Marketing Assistants (Multiple Positions)

About the position

The Marketing Department at Midlands Technical College is seeking mascot actors, mascot handlers, and marketing assistants. These are entry level positions that are well-suited for students of Midlands Tech or other area colleges and universities.

Responsibilities

• Represent the school mascot at campus, community, and school-related functions including Harbison Theatre shows.
• Engage and entertain audiences through lively and spirited performances.
• Interact positively with diverse audiences, including students, staff, alumni, and community members.
• Execute choreographed routines, skits, and spontaneous interactions.
• Maintain the costume and ensure it is clean, functional, presentable and transporting the suit to and from events.
• Participate in promotional and media appearances as requested.
• Attend community events in Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties.
• Represent the brand positively at all times.
• Serve as a support companion during mascot appearances, ensuring performer safety and comfort.
• Help guide the mascot through crowds, assist with costume adjustments, and communicate on behalf of the mascot.
• Coordinate logistics at event sites (arrival/departure timing, routes, performance cues).
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and other event logistics as needed.
• Transport the mascot suit when serving in a handler's capacity.
• Support the development and distribution of marketing materials such as newsletters, brochures, email campaigns, and presentations.
• Assist in creating and curating content for digital platforms including social media, websites, and press releases.
• Maintain and update content calendars and ensure campaign timelines are met.
• Track marketing and communication analytics and assist in preparing reports on performance and engagement metrics.
• Help coordinate and promote both virtual and in-person campus and community events.
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions, creative campaigns, and outreach efforts.
