About the position

Mascot Characters will act as the faces of Wilderness at the Smokies. They will interact with guests throughout the resort, engage in poolside games and activities and encourage participation in various resort events such as dance parties, scavenger hunts, breakfast with characters, etc. They will also represent Wilderness at the Smokies at various on and off-site community related events throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as and embrace the character of Monty or Molly for all Wilderness related events.
  • Take care of and treat the Mascot costume with respect, including proper storage and cleaning.
  • Distribute Wilderness at the Smokies promotional material to increase guest satisfaction throughout the resort.
  • Transition between indoor and outdoor climates throughout the year and self-monitor during extreme weather conditions.
  • Represent Wilderness for on and off-site events during the year.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and engage with guests during activities.
  • Execute events during Holidays, including Poolside Parties, Easter Egg Drop/Hunt, Santa’s Workshop, and New Year’s Eve Events.
  • Communicate daily to Activities Supervisor and Events Manager.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as other duties assigned by Management.
  • Commit to the assigned schedule of Mascot appearances, including most Holidays, some evenings, and most weekends.

  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform job.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment and be attentive and alert.
  • Proficient in time-management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Can tolerate a fast-paced, hectic, and noisy environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous job experience working with Children.
