Principal Software Engineer (Endpoint Client)

About the position

At Palo Alto Networks, we are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our GlobalProtect team, which is responsible for securing network traffic from customer devices to Prisma Access Cloud. The role involves designing, developing, and delivering next-generation technologies. You will be responsible for innovation and development of the GlobalProtect client product across multiple platforms, working closely with product management to define roadmaps, creating system architectures, and implementing robust solutions. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, as you will interact with quality assurance and field support teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver next-generation technologies within the GlobalProtect team.
• Work with product management to develop and define roadmaps.
• Create system architectures and low-level designs.
• Utilize programming skills for highly efficient and robust implementations.
• Interact with quality assurance and field support teams in debugging, troubleshooting, replicating, and resolving issues found in GlobalProtect software.
• Interview, mentor, and coach new team members.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development.
• Proficient in C/C++ programming language.
• Proficiency in systems programming on Windows or Mac; Linux is a plus.
• Programming knowledge of kernel drivers is a plus.
• Knowledge of RUST programming language is a plus.
• Experience with networking domain is a plus.
• M.S./B.S. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent military experience.
