Product Development Sourcing Manager

About the position

The Product Development Sourcing Manager role is a key bridge between the engineering and materials functions and will work closely with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure on time and on budget design projects. Managing this important collaboration early in the product development process will lead to favorable cost management and a smooth transition during the Commercialization phase of the Plexus Product Realization Value Stream.

Responsibilities

• Support Engineering and Customer Management during the planning and concept development phases of product development to provide cost estimations for custom engineered components.
• Ensure Bill of Material (BOM) cost remains on target during concept and functional specification phases of development projects.
• Collaborate with commodity managers/specialists to select the appropriate sourcing strategy for the application/design requirement.
• Lead supplier negotiations and management of part costs.
• Facilitate effective supplier involvement in design for manufacturability efforts and design revision proposals.
• Lead collaboration between suppliers, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to ensure on-time and successful completion of tooling, product build and qualification.

Requirements

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience.
• Experience in developing systems and procedures.
• Experience in development & testing, product development procedures & concepts like Benchmarking, Reverse Engineering.
• Proven negotiation and project management skills.
• Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization.
• Strong data analysis and Decision-making capabilities.
