In this role, you will lead the effort of moving highly complex mechanical hardware designs for customer or innovation projects from prototype to production. You will be responsible for ensuring technical milestones are achieved and guiding other team members' designs while leading technical design reviews. This engineer will have demonstrated experience at releasing products into a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in developing and validating complex mechanical products required across all Business Units.
  • Supervise chassis and PCB mechanical layouts utilizing standard tools.
  • Direct all aspects of mechanical design with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor, coach, and train engineers with less experience.
  • Partner with system architects to review and clarify design requirements and define the appropriate mechanical/thermal architecture.
  • Expertly assemble prototypes and verify form/fit/function.
  • Manage external component suppliers/manufacturers and provide input to their product roadmaps.
  • Communicate technical aspects of a project effectively to internal and external customers.
  • Define design innovations and potential patentable solutions.
  • Lead resolution of complex design issues and manage design trade-offs.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (BSME/MSME/PhD or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years experience in mechanical design and/or verification or other key competency.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry or specific sector, regulatory and safety standards.
  • Broad knowledge developing high complexity projects that require one or more Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies: Tolerance Analysis, DFM, Serviceability.
  • Detailed knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Manufacturing Principles, Interference Checks.
  • Ability to influence others and share best practices.
  • Effective communication skills with a good understanding of English.
  • Ability to work as part of a global team.
  • Ability to assess a project and articulate risk while developing project milestones.
  • Experience developing projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ).
  • Experience leading ME projects with multiple engineers assigned.
  • Experience leading cross-functional and ME design reviews.
