In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. The YouTube Recommendations team is at the forefront of improving the user experience, with our systems driving 70% of time spent on YouTube. Our goal is to continuously enhance personalization, which is the leading driver of user engagement, by leveraging machine learning and AI. Initially, improvements in recommendations have been the top driver of YouTube's growth. We strive to make the recommendation system bigger, faster, and more well-rounded to solve key user problems and responsibly grow viewership and satisfaction by leveraging the latest advancements in AI. Responsibilities

  • Lead key core ML model quality projects within Homepage recommendations such as enabling longer-term memory in our shared user embeddings or enabling the latest technologies and architectures in our ranking models.
  • Drive the Activation effort, which is our initiative to help users form lasting interests on YouTube. This includes working on models that spark new interests and increase those interests by predicting and encouraging re-engagement with new creators and topics.
  • Contribute to the strategy and execution for YouTube's evolving recommendation systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or a related technical role.
  • 5 years of experience with SQL or a similar query language.
  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.
  • Experience in machine learning, AI, or recommendation systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a Technology or Business related field.
  • 3 years of experience in a business function or role (e.g., strategic marketing, business operations, consulting).
  • 3 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.
  • 2 years of experience in software development or engineering.
  • 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, sales, finance, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to present to leadership using good storytelling from a user-focused perspective, with excellent communication skills.

Benefits

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
