RN - ICU Step Down Unit - Days

About the position

The RN - ICU Step Down Unit position at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital involves working in a 20 bed telemetry unit that specializes in the care and management of patients with pulmonary and other medicine-related illnesses. The unit is capable of taking care of 2 chronically ventilated patients. As a registered nurse, you are expected to deliver high-quality care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions. RNs are accountable for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages, utilizing delegation and critical thinking skills in a collaborative approach to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Complete age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting and using them to develop a plan of care.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages.
• Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved program eligible for VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
