About the position

Radiance Technologies is seeking a scientific developer for an upcoming project under the DARPA Simulating Microbial Systems (SMS) initiative. The position will support the development, testing, and application of machine-learning and physics-based mechanical models to the modeling and simulation of an Eschericia coli bacterium cell. Specific subtasks will be assigned in support of this objective and may include data analysis, data collection, algorithm design, software implementation, experiment design, testing and evaluation, and progress reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, testing, and application of machine-learning and physics-based mechanical models.
  • Model and simulate an Eschericia coli bacterium cell.
  • Perform data analysis and data collection.
  • Design algorithms and implement software.
  • Design experiments and conduct testing and evaluation.
  • Report on progress and findings.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Physics or relevant technical field with a concentration on microbiology.
  • Classroom-level programming experience in Python.
  • Basic understanding of algorithm design, data structures, and computational complexity.
  • Completed coursework related to calculus.
  • Experience applying and conducting research in molecular modeling of organic materials.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with C++.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with PyTorch.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with high-performance computing environments.
  • Coursework in advanced mathematics topics including differential equations.
  • Coursework in relevant subjects including biology and physics.
  • Classroom level experience in developing and training artificial-intelligence / machine-learning models.
  • Rising seniors planning to attend graduate school are encouraged to apply.
