Senior Advanced Software Engineer

About the position

As a software engineer for the MLS Products business area, you'll be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for delivering high quality multi-level security applications. This role requires a detail-oriented Web/Software Developer with a focus on both frontend and backend technologies. You will develop, test, and maintain web-based applications using modern technologies and best practices, collaborating with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to implement new features and improve user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain web-based applications using modern technologies and best practices.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to implement new features and improve user experiences.
• Write clean, well-documented, and scalable code in line with team standards.
• Support and maintain existing applications, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes in a timely manner.
• Work within Agile/Scrum frameworks and participate in sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Proficient in PHP and Python, with hands-on experience building and maintaining server-side applications.
• Strong frontend development skills using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular.
• Familiarity with database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, and performance optimization.
• Basic understanding of DevOps practices and deployment pipelines.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
• 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
• Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
