About the position

At Elanco, we are seeking a visionary digital leader to accelerate the maturity of our manufacturing and supply chain operations. Strongly believing that manufacturing excellence and innovative supply chain solutions are key to our success, the Senior Director of Product Management will partner with manufacturing leadership and contribute to defining the strategy and vision for the future of how we deliver value to Elanco. You will be responsible for influencing and steering our digital transformation efforts, embedding modern technology for global supply processes and manufacturing sites across the globe to create resilient, efficient operations that meet ever-evolving industry demands. As the senior leader accountable for our supply product group, a key component of the role is to develop and empower a team of product professionals focused on solving the most impactful problems in the manufacturing and supply domain. This role calls for a dynamic leader who can develop strong product management talent, foster empowered decision-making within teams, and drive an ambitious product strategy. By staffing, coaching, and growing product managers committed to best practices and continuous improvement, you will build a robust product discipline that aligns with our strategic business objectives. Collaborating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams such as engineering and design, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to drive substantial innovations across our supply chain and manufacturing operations. In short, this product leader role is accountable for both setting the strategic direction to enable continuous product innovation and building strong product teams. It will report to the IT Executive Director of Product.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to provide expertise toward a compelling vision and product strategy across the manufacturing, quality, and supply domain.
  • Shape and influence the digital agenda and transformation for the future of Elanco.
  • Continuously communicate and evangelize the product vision, strategy, and principles across the organization to ensure alignment and buy-in from stakeholders and executives.
  • Maintain an external perspective, understanding benchmarks and industry innovation to contribute to modern, digital solutions to improve productivity, data integrity/compliance, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Lead team of product managers who are committed to driving outcomes and are accountable for their results by working collaboratively within the cross-functional product team (including design, engineering, and delivery) to achieve desired results.
  • Recruit, lead, coach, and develop product managers to excel in their roles, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to drive product outcomes and success.
  • Design and evolve the structure and organization of product teams to maximize empowerment, autonomy, and alignment with the product vision and strategy.
  • Ensure product teams have the necessary context and relationships to make informed decisions; Support product managers by ensuring that their primary engagement with customers is direct and effective, maintaining the focus on the real problems being solved.
  • Ensure product managers develop a deep understanding of our users and customers, as well as how they interact with our products, using data-driven insights.
  • Assist with quarterly planning and assigning objectives (problems to solve) to product teams.
  • Engage and influence across IT as a senior leader in the organization; Promote organizational initiatives supporting continued evolution toward a product operating model, collaborate with peers (Leaders of Product, Engineering, Delivery) and support employee well-being and engagement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or a related technical and/or business field.
  • 15+ years of technology experience, with 10+ year experience in leadership roles.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with validated systems in pharma or GMP industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multiple years’ experience in with modern, digital delivery in manufacturing and supply and technical knowledge on pharm manufacturing including: MES, LES, OEE, CAPA systems, Digital Plant, Real-Time Insights, Data Historian, Building Management, SAP/Supply Chain.
  • Multiple years of experience as a product leader or individual contributor product manager, with a proven track record of delivering valuable and viable solutions.
