About the position

Microchip Frequency & Time Systems (FTS) provides world-class timing solutions and sets the world's standard for time. FTS generates, distributes and applies precise time for telecom, wireless, aerospace/defense, IT infrastructure and metrology industries. FTS's customers, from telecom service providers and network equipment manufacturers to governments and their suppliers worldwide, are able to build more reliable networks and systems by using the company's advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks, services and solutions. Microchip FTS located in Boulder, CO is considering candidates for a self-motivated, intensely customer focused, Senior Engineer II-Product/Test to work with our team. This position will be primarily responsible for providing on-going technical support for the Space, Defense and Avionics Group. The candidate will possess excellent hands-on, product engineering skills. The candidate must be able to multitask but also be able to focus to bring a project to a successful conclusion while also supporting other efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support transition of new products from design to production
  • Develop testing methodologies for new products
  • Validate, design and support test stations and hardware fixtures
  • Create engineering documentation (change notices, parts lists, bills of materials, test reports, and test procedures)
  • Provide technical guidance to production test technicians pertaining to failure analysis, test methodology, and corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot production hardware to determine root-cause of failures and document and identify corrective actions
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical hardware test issues
  • Optimize processes to reduce cost and increase throughput
  • Maintain processes and procedures in accordance with ISO9000 standards
  • Derive metrics to target cost improvements
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic systems and equipment used in manufacturing

Requirements

  • US Citizenship required
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and 7-8 years of experience or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a test development in a manufacturing environment using LabView
  • Minimum 5 years' work experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years' experience performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting using test and diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes for troubleshooting of PCBA's to the component level
  • Ability to develop ATE and bench test systems using standard lab equipment including network analyzer, power meter, RF signal generator, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, is self-driven and has a willingness to educate and train others in LabView techniques and solutions
