As a Capital One Senior Lead Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. We are seeking Full Stack Software Engineers who are passionate about Chaos Testing highly resilient applications across our Tech environment! The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is responsible for enabling and evolving Capital One's foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, execution, and reporting of Chaos testing.
  • Review architecture to identify potential resilience vulnerabilities and define a Chaos strategy.
  • Create automation to scale the Chaos strategy across Tech.
  • Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other members of the engineering community.
  • Utilize programming languages like JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, along with various AWS tools and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's Degree
  • 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 4+ years of experience in Chaos and Reliability testing within complex production environments
  • 1+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • 4+ years experience with Chaos engineering tools in Harness or Gremlin
  • 4+ years experience with testing tools in Performance or Fault Injection
  • 4+ years experience with Observability tooling in Splunk or New Relic
