Capital One Software is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering who is passionate about marrying innovation with emerging technologies. In 2022, we publicly announced Capital One Software and have since brought two of our B2B software solutions to market; Slingshot and Databolt. Building on Capital One's pioneering adoption of modern cloud and data capabilities, Capital One Software is helping accelerate the data management journey at scale for businesses operating in the cloud. As a Capital One Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to build meaningful software that enables our customers to manage their data securely and efficiently at any scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead diverse set of technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, latency sensitive applications and full stack systems to create robust, cloud native, resilient, and highly scalable solutions in data management and security domains.
  • Write high quality code, perform code and design reviews.
  • Share your passion for writing high quality code, staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community.
  • Promote a culture of engineering excellence and being well-managed, using opportunities to reuse and inner source solutions where possible.
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions.
  • Be the guiding force for stakeholders in design and architecture discussions, helping the engineering teams make key technology choices, and staying associated with the use case through its development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with architects and product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences for our customers.
  • Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, Go, and Rust, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree
  • 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, Go or Rust
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 7+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
