We are seeking Full Stack Software Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies to enable an exceptional associate experience. As a Capital One Sr. Manager Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, where you will champion and drive innovation while ensuring that all of our solutions remain secure, reliable and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects, and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create enterprise grade solutions focused on Enterprise Search and Associate Experience
  • Formulate a roadmap, prioritize work for the team, and build compelling long term strategies
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your solutions
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
  • Effectively collaborate with product management, engineering, and Architecture teams to define and deliver powerful experiences
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with our vendors to ensure they are meeting expected service levels and performance goals
  • Encourage innovation, automation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Be a talent magnet - recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead talent to be their best

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree
  • 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building highly interactive and scalable APIs
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 7+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps (Site Reliability Engineering)
  • 1+ years of experience with LLM, ML, and Agentic workflows
  • 1+ years of experience with Search technologies (knowledge graphs, RAG, indexing/crawling)
