About the position

The Senior Marketing Manager, Commercial Innovation and Portfolio Strategy is responsible for stewarding the entire commercial innovation process from ideation to commercialization. Reporting into the Vice President of Innovation, you will play a key role creating long term brand equity, maximizing growth potential and driving long term brand profitability. Critical to success in this role will be identifying brand and commercial needs and strategically aligning the brand to achieve the company’s financial objectives. Cross functional collaboration will be required to conduct thorough analysis, make recommendations and execute on strategic projects, such as promotional kits and sizing strategies. This role requires a balance of strong analytical skills and creativity to bring projects to life.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategy around the position of each product within the portfolio - how is it serving the business from a customer, geographic, and distribution perspective
  • Ongoing evaluation of product performance relative to trend, plan, and market with corresponding recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to rationalize the portfolio to maximize business results and productivity
  • Ongoing analysis of volume and margin ensuring financial health of the portfolio in the present and future
  • Key driver of the product mix of the future and the business model associated with it
  • Analyze and drive mix of basic, newness, and commercial innovation
  • Own entire promotional innovation strategy, development & execution for overall brand and trade-specific programs including but not limited to promotional sets/bundles, alt sizes and sampling vehicles
  • Responsible for all product briefs, artwork and copy development, in collaboration with Creative, GTM, and product teams
  • Ensure the NPD commercial innovation serves the business needs by working closely with trade teams
  • Partner with the creative and marketing team to ensure brand consistency across all consumer touchpoints
  • Steward stage gate development process of commercial innovation from ideation to commercialization working closely with commercial partners, project management, ops, and packaging
  • Collaborate closely with GTM marketing team to ensure brand marketing priorities and commercial innovation development projects are integrated and in sync
  • Support brand planning initiatives, including market research, segmentation & competitive analysis to differentiate our service and products in the market
  • Provide insights and direction to support campaign & asset development
  • Develop channel and messaging strategies to reach key customer segments
  • Understand and drive the consumer journey specific to the category
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of culture & the competitive environment at all times

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree a plus
  • 8+ years of relative experience in brand management, marketing or product development within the beauty industry
  • Experience in both global (upstream marketing) and local (downstream marketing) teams
  • Experience managing budgets, analyzing financial data, making data-driven decisions
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel or G-Suite platforms
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of how to deliver against the priorities of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment
  • Creative thinker who, using insights and data, can frame and solve problems in new ways and bring new marketing initiatives to the table
  • Strategic thinker who can develop strategy frameworks & solutions that are highly actionable
  • Self-starter & highly motivated; capable of working independently, yet collaboratively, within an entrepreneurial & team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, great presenter, dynamic speaker
  • Strong collaborator. Ability to influence across many layers of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership and can handle situations with confidence, tact, and resourcefulness
  • Must have strong attention to detail, excellence in execution, with a 'roll-up-your-sleeves' and 'get it done' mentality
